My heart goes out to you on your loss. I know what it is to have to put a faithful pet away - just know that you did the right thing.
It is hard not be selfish at that time and be strong enough to help them out of their suffering. I just wish we had the right in this country to make our own wishes known and be able to have a physician help us end our own lives in a peaceful and humane way!

When the time came for our Molly's dreaded final trip to the vet, my husband's congestive heart failure prevented his being there for her, as he had been for our beloved pets in the past. It was my responsibility to hold her in my arms as she quietly slipped away. How very thankful I am that I was able to be there for her as she had been for us for 10 years. Thanks for sharing your experiences over the years, the tears as well as the smiles.
